MARINE renewed their challenge for a play-off place with this hardfought win over the Geordies. The result was all the more praiseworthy considering the fact that the visitors’ goalkeeping emergency saw a midfielder wearing the No.1 shirt.
Hanwell started the better and the stand-in keeper, Bradley Hooper, did well to claw away a deflected Keano Robinson shot early on. Before the 15th-minute mark both Kain Adom and Mat Mackenzie went close.
