■ JACK RICE’S 51st-minute strike proved the difference as the home side picked up a valuable three points.
Willand started the brighter with Ash Hewitt having his shot saved by Macintosh Boyd at the near post.
The next to try his luck was Ollie Bray whose effort flew past a post, as did a Rice effort. In the 29th minute Ralph Graham got his first of two yellow cards in seven minutes for a foul and his second followed for an off the ball trip. Willand made ten-man Melksham chase the ball.
