BLYTH Spartans got their warm-up campaign off to a winning start with victory at North Shields.
Tom Potter put an early chance over the bar for Shields and then Paul Van-Zandvliet shot narrowly wide after good approach play fashioned an opening for the Northern League side. But it was Blyth who forged ahead with two goals in four minutes through Jordan Hickey and new boy JJ Hooper.
