NOT even patchy weather or a train strike could dampen the spirits of those attending the fourth Jimmy Johnstone Sixa-Side tournament at FA Vase winners Ascot United last weekend.
Organised by Burnham FC club secretary Gary Reeves, the charity event honoured the late Celtic FC legend and saw eight Celtic supporters’ club sides and four walking teams do battle at the Racecourse ground.
Among those in attendance were teams from Harrow, Hayes in west London, Reading and Swindon.
Coming out on top were Swindon Shamrock after they beat Twyford 5-3 in the final, while striker Aiden Miller picked up the Golden Boot with his 13 goals.
Agile Avengers won the Walking Football event.
More than £1,500 was raised from the tournament with the money split between Prostate Cancer and Motor Neurone Research with an extra donation made to the Jimmy Johnstone Charitable Trust.
Reeves said: “It was an honour to put this on again and roll on next year’s event.”
