■ LILYWHITES got their season off to a winning start in an entertaining opening day encounter against Prescot Cables.
The first half saw chances at both ends but both sides lacked the finishing touch and they went into the break goalless.
The second half saw both sides looking to attack, but it was the Lilywhites who opened the scoring with Mulvey nodding in from close range after a Banister effort had been denied.
That only spurred on the visitors, and they took control of the game.
