■ DEFENCES came out on top as Phoenix Sports and Chichester City shared the spoils on the opening day of the season at a windy Christopher Russell Stadium.
The hosts started brightly with Alfie Evans going close to scoring before a trio of efforts from Chi were all saved as the visitors ended the first half on the front foot.
Isaac Thompson fired over for Phoenix soon after the restart, while Josh Clack will be dis- appointed not to have beaten home goalkeeper Andy Walker as the sides took turns to go on the attack.
