MERTHYR Town fought back against Sholing to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.
After a frantic start to proceedings, Daniel Mason went close to opening the scoring for the visitors before a tremendous triple save from Ryan Gosney denied Joe Keeping, Frazer Thomas and Thomas Handley shortly before half-time.
After the restart, Jake Hesketh’s inswinging cross found Mason, who steered a smart finish past the advancing Jaimie Cogman to hand the Boatmen the lead.
