HONOURS were even at a sunny Alcaline Stadium as both goals came during the first half.
Charlie Walker put Whitehawk ahead with a 25th-minute penalty after he himself had been fouled by Ade Cole.
But striker David Smith equalised for Folkestone Invicta with a well-struck shot from 25 yards in the 34th minute.
The home side had hit the post in the eighth minute through Scott Heard when Cole had played a good ball out to Ira Jackson on the righthand side.
