■ NEWTON Aycliffe showed spirit, character and determination to come from 1-0 down with ten men to defeat second place Hebburn Town.
Amar Purewal teed up Olly Martin for him to put the Hornets 1-0 upe. JD Costello was sent off for receiving a second yellow.
The second half was initially quiet, but Hebburn kept control. However, the home side would slowly begin to shine brighter, and when Cieran Jackson was fouled on the edge of the box, Ethan Wood fired a rocket of a free-kick into the bottom corner.
