Relief for Bruce as Macc hang on

FIRST half goals from John Rooney and Alex Curran proved just enough to secure the first home victory of Alex Bruce’s Macclesfield tenure.
The game sprung into life after 12 minutes. Rooney had a goalbound effort turned behind brilliantly by Whitby keeper Shane Bland to prevent the Silkmen taking the lead.
But Rooney found the net just ten minutes later. He received the ball inside the box, turned his marker and scored effortlessly.
