■ WINTERTON started the game strongly, and could easily have been ahead but failed to capitalise.
The visitors were able to break the deadlock soon after, as star man Bailey Thompson put Pontefract ahead after ten minutes.
He struck again five minutes later to double the visitor’s lead with a nice finish from a fizzed cross.
The second half saw the gap widen between the two teams, as Pontefract kept their play-off hopes alive with two more goals in a relatively comfortable 45 minutes.
