■ CITY of Liverpool claimed a deserved win over Clitheroe.
The Purps raced into an early lead when Xenon Bahula lashed home a fierce finish from inside the box.
Their lead was short lived, as the visitors were gifted the chance to equalise when forward Sefton Gonzales poleaxed home goalkeeper Calvin Hare as he challenged for a high ball. To the amazement of everyone, the ref pointed for a penalty, which Richie Baker stroked home.
