The home side began brightly with Rodrigo Goncalves going close, but Grimsby took the lead after eight minutes when Harvey Tomlinson turned in a cross. Grantham caused the Grimsby defence problems from a series of corners,and it was from a corner that Goncalves forced the ball home for the equaliser.
