Match Preview: Gateshead v Rochdale (Friday, 3pm)

Rochdale visit Gateshead at the Gateshead International Stadium on Friday on the back of three consecutive wins in the National League.

Rochdale have picked up 10 points from their last six games, and they face a Tynesiders side who have also won their last two matches, and collected the same number of points from the last possible 18.

With 82 goals in 40 games so far this season, Gateshead are the league’s second-highest scorers with 2.0 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 57 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.

Rochdale are also above average scorers, with 1.6 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.5 goals per game.

The Tynesiders are fourth in the table after 40 games, of which they have won 19 and drawn nine, earning 66 points.

The Dale are seven places behind the home team in 11th, with 15 wins and 10 draws putting them on 55 points.

Over the last two years, Gateshead and Rochdale have played each other twice. Gateshead won one of them and they drew the other.

Their last meeting was on December 12, when Gateshead won 5-1 away.

Gateshead’s last match was on Tuesday, a 7-1 win against Hartlepool United, with Dajaune Brown (two), Callum Whelan, Kieron Evans, Luke Hannant, Regan Booty and Thomas David Allan getting the goals for the Tynesiders.

Rochdale beat Maidenhead United 1-0 last time out, on Saturday, with Devante Rodney on the scoresheet.
