Match Preview: Southend United v Boreham Wood (Monday, 2pm)

Boreham Wood make the journey to Roots Hall to play Southend United on Monday looking to pick up points to end their five-game losing streak.

Boreham Wood’s struggles have left them with just one point from their last six National League matches, while their opponents have earned 10 from a possible 18.

In the last 10 years, Southend and Boreham Wood have played each other on seven occasions. Southend won two of them, Boreham Wood three, and they drew twice.

On average, the Shrimpers scored 1.0 goal and the Wood 1.0 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on October 28, when they played out a 1-1 draw.

Boreham Wood are 21st in the table after 41 games, of which they have won 10 and drawn 14, earning 44 points.

Southend are 14 places ahead of the Wood in seventh, with 18 wins and 12 draws putting them on 66 points.

With 50 goals in 41 games so far this season, the visitors are scoring at below the league average rate with 1.2 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 69 goals at a rate of 1.7 per game.

United, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.5 goals per game. They have conceded 1.0 goal per game.
