CHESHAM took a step closer to the title with their win over Hayes & Yeading, but it was a tense and nervy affair in front of a bumper Good Friday crowd.
Hayes were desperate for points at the other end of the table and lost their manager when Mark Molesley resigned on the eve of the game, but they put up a spirited performance and could have taken a valuable point if they had more firepower up front.
