Bobby Wilkinson appointed Hemel Hempstead manager

Hemel Hempstead Town have replaced interim boss Alan Dowson with Bobby Wilkinson ahead of their final match of the league season.

Wilkinson departed Weymouth on March 27 having led them to survival last year and with the side in mid-table in National League South.

The former Thatcham Town, Hungerford Town, Wealdstone and Bracknell Town boss will oversee Hemel’s final match at Taunton on Saturday, with them possibly needing a result to avoid relegation to Step 3 after 10 years at a higher level.

One win in 15 league games has seen the Tudors drop from mid-table to a relegation scrap, with Dowson recording one win, two draws and six defeats in his nine matches in charge.

He had replaced Brad Quinton, who was sacked following a 2-0 defeat at home to Havant & Waterlooville on March 2.

The club thanked Dowson for his spell and welcomed Wilkinson, who they appointed on a two-year contract:

Wilkinson will be assisted by Mike Percival, who served as his number two at Weymouth.
