BRIDLINGTON Town’s failure to deal with high balls into the box cost them dearly as hosts Birtley Town scored three times from crosses to move into the next round.
Two goals late in the first half cancelled out Birtley’s advantage only for Scott Heslop to head home the Hoops winner midway through the second period.
Birtley were ahead after just seven minutes. A deep outward corner was headed back into the danger area for Nick Marley to bundle home, Owen Grainger then saving from Heslop.
