BASINGSTOKE Town fell foul of the heavy summer traffic on their longest trip of the season, causing a late kick-off, but they shrugged off the delay as they ran out worthy winners.
Plymouth Parkway dominated the early stages, enjoying plenty of possession and testing Simon Grant in the Basingstoke goal on a number occasions with long-range efforts from Carlo Garside and Ryan Brett.
The pressure eventually told after 20 minutes as Mitch Beardmore put the finishing touch to a well-worked move for the home side.
