STEYNING Town Community’s first game at Step 4 did not end as hoped as Merstham dampened their party.
The visitors survived relegation last season and have ambitions to climb the table this campaign, signing legendary non-league goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey.
But they needed a penalty to beat the new boys.
A tussle in the box long after the ball was there saw the referee point to the spot with Charlie Greenwood converting.
