A match high on endeavour but lacking in quality suddenly sparked into life when a Jonny Edwards late brace finally brought Ives a deserved reward, and the Puritans a late consolation that was little more than an inconvenience to the home side.
The hosts enjoyed a lot of possession throughout with Jordan Nicholson and Theo Alexandrou causing the visitors back line problems along both flanks and although both got to the byline on occasions they were unable to pick out a team-mate with their deliveries into the box.
