THE opening half an hour saw few clear chances for either side but plenty of bookings as last seasons NPL West play-off winners took on champions Leek Town at the Auto Safety Centre Stadium.
Cables broke the deadlock after being awarded a free-kick a fair distance outside the box. Francis Smith beat the keeper and curled a wonderful strike into the top left corner to put the Bulls ahead at the break.
