FORMER Premier League defender Daniel Ayala may have played under Rafa Benitez and alongside Jamie Carragher – but never in front of 175 fans in the Velocity Cup!
That was until Tuesday evening when he stepped out for Isthmian Premier side Potters Bar Town at Cheshunt, six months after calling time on a professional career that took him to Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers.
The 33-year-old Spaniard, inset, helped the Scholars reach the fourth round of the league cup but boss Max Mitchell admits the defender won’t be a regular on his teamsheet.
