DARIUS Osei’s tenth league goal of the season was enough to see Ashton United prevail in the first encounter against their newly-promoted visitors Leek Town for 17 years.
The breakthrough came eight minutes after half-time when Louis White’s pass sent Bernardo Couto down the left wing, his cross expertly converted by Osei.
This goal would’ve felt a long time coming for the 29-year-old, denied by Leek goalkeeper Dino Visser just three minutes in after a clever Trevon Bryan pull-back.
