CHELMSFORD played out a disappointing goalless draw with a Bromley XI but received a boost as long-term injury victim Tom Lapslie continued his comeback.
The former Colchester and Torquay midfielder started but was substituted after 20 minutes in a planned change.
The visitors started well and clipped the post when Kian Ronan was caught out of position but City – with their greater experience – started to control the tempo.
