■ THE Citizens succumbed to their first defeat in an early season trilogy of matches against Southern League Central Division rivals Biggleswade.
Two well-taken goals from the lively Alex Marsh put paid to Welwyn Garden City’s fine early-season form.
Biggleswade showed why they are top of the early league table in what proved to be a fiery and, at times, ill-tempered affair.
