AN ENTERTAINING game on the east coast went the way of Stockton Town, courtesy of a brilliant winner from substitute Stephen Thompson.
Stockton had the best of a frantic opening and took the lead in the sixth minute. Glen Butterworth cleverly released Amar Purewal, and the striker showed excellent composure to slot under the advancing Ollie Battersby.
For Cleethorpes, Ben Andreucci and Callum Ainley were both looking dangerous. However, the final ball was just lacking for the Owls.
