FOR over an hour, the pattern of this game saw Hitchin attacking to the point of frustration and Northwood defending.
Al-Droubi was outstanding in goal for the visitors, and blessed with a little good fortune, he looked on as Hitchin racked up near misses rather than goals.
The most serious came from Will McNeill who missed a sitter with his very first touch.
Then, with Hitchin committed, Northwood exploited possession and, against the run of play, Freddie Ford snatched a surprise lead.
