The National League high-flyers Boreham Wood have made Zak Brunt’s loan move from Barnet permanent in a club-record deal.
The 23-year-old midfielder has signed a contract until the end of the 2027/28 season, with the option of a further year, after impressing during two spells on loan at Meadow Park.
Brunt, who first joined the Wood in the 2022/23 campaign before returning in August, has been a standout performer for Luke Garrard’s side this term, contributing nine goals and assists from midfield.
He began his senior career in non-league football with Matlock Town before returning to Sheffield United, and later enjoyed loan spells at Southend United and Notts County prior to joining Barnet.

Buzzing
After putting pen to paper, Brunt said: “I’m absolutely buzzing! It’s been in the pipeline for a while. I feel loved here.
“The relationship I have with the Gaffer, the Chairman and everyone behind the scenes is huge.
“I really enjoy playing in this team; it’s a special group. The sky’s the limit for us.”
Brunt becomes the second player through the door this week, following the arrival of highly rated goalkeeper Ted Curd on loan from Chelsea on Wednesday.

Impressed
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, Curd admitted he was delighted to get his move over the line: “I’m buzzing. It’s taken a while, but to finally train this morning was good. I’m really, really happy.”
He added that his first impressions of Boreham Wood had been positive: “Really good. Obviously, I’ve played on this pitch with friendlies with Chelsea before and the astro was good.
“The group’s really good. Already you can see how tight they are and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
When asked what drew him to the club, Curd said: “Well, I wanted to come here in the summer. I wasn’t able to.
“I think the facilities, the way we play – I came here last Tuesday night to watch the Aldershot game – I was really impressed with how they moved the ball. It’s an exciting time for the club.”
Reflecting on his time in a Premier League academy, he added: “I’ve been lucky enough to be at Chelsea for a long time. I’ve been coached at a high level.
“I felt like they’ve taught me a lot, but my experiences on loan have taught me probably even more about men’s football and winning games. It’s an important step in my career.”
Both signings underline Wood’s ambition to sustain their promotion push.
