A step 5 club is leading calls for micro shinpads to be banned following a horror injury suffered by one of their players.
Young winger Riley Malin suffered a double leg break in a 50/50 challenge while playing for Ilfracombe Town at Bridport in South West Peninsula League Premier East last weekend, forcing the match to be abandoned.
As a result, the Bluebirds have implemented a self-imposed and non-negotiable ban on the use of micro shinpads across all its age groups and squads.
