■ THE final game before Christmas ended as honours even as hosts Brighouse Town and Newton Aycliffe played out a stalemate at the Heffernan Utilities Stadium.
Nathan Curtis put the hosts ahead after 17 minutes when he fired the ball past Kyle Seymour to break the deadlock.
However, the hosts couldn’t capitalise on their lead as Newton Aycliffe pulled level with 12 minutes to go when Jake Orrell found the back of the Brighouse net.
Both sides pushed for a late winner.
However, neither could find that elusive second goal to seal the points.
