LEE LEWIS scored twice to lead Merstham to victory over fellow play-off chasers Margate.
A goal in each half was enough to propel the Moatsiders to a valuable win in the chase for a top-five spot.
Gate had an early penalty shout in the seventh minute, but the referee waved away the appeals.
Ben Greenhalgh hit a shot just over the bar two minutes later.
Merstham’s first real chance fell in the 26th minute when a Lee Lewis shot was tipped onto the post by Tom Wray.
