■ IT was a poor end to the year for Welwyn Garden City, as they lost their final home game of 2025 to a Beaconsfield penalty 20 minutes from the full-time whistle.
The visiting Rams took the full three points from a disappointing pre-Christmas fixture thanks to James Dobson’s 70th minute spot-kick.
The home side had the better of the first-half opportunities and scorned chances through Adam Pollock, Steve Cawley and particularly a Nick Ralfe effort that brought a fine save from goalkeeper Tommy Dymott.
