Boreham Wood 2-1 Solihull Moors

Boreham Wood went top of the National League after a 2-1 victory over Solihull.

The hosts went ahead after just 10 minutes as Regan Booty found the top corner from a free-kick.

Solihull responded in the 26th minute when Joe Sbarra added to his Boxing Day hat-trick against Tamworth by netting the equaliser.

Wood top scorer Matt Rush restored the lead six minutes before half-time when the ball fell to him in the middle of the box and he made no mistake to net his 14th goal of the season.

Rochdale 1-2 Hartlepool United

Rochdale surrendered top spot in the National League after crashing to a 2-1 home defeat to Hartlepool.

Goals from Maxim Kouogou and Luke Charman inside the first half-hour wrecked the home side’s run of five wins in a row and secured the points for the visitors.

Rochdale improved after the interval and Ian Henderson gave them hope of salvaging a point when he converted a low cross from Tobi Adebayo-Rowling in the 79th minute.

But despite piling pressure on the Hartlepool goal, Ryan East and Ryan Galvin both spurned late chances and the hosts held on for their first win in four games.

Altrincham 1-2 York City

York edged to a 2-1 victory over 10-man Altrincham after a stoppage-time Ollie Pearce winner capped off a crazy ending.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men after 16 minutes when Owen German was sent off for bringing down Pearce.

And York eventually took the lead in the 42nd minute when Alex Newby struck an effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

But Altrincham’s Lucas Weaver thought he had grabbed his side a late point with a 90th-minute equaliser.

However, National League top scorer Ollie Pearce responded straight after the restart, with his 21st goal of the campaign moving York up to second.

Forest Green Rovers 1-1 Truro City

Struggling Truro City held on to claim a precious point in a 1-1 draw against Forest Green Rovers at the New Lawn.

The fourth-placed hosts looked set to bounce back from their shock Boxing Day loss to Brackley Town when Jili Buyabu fired home on the rebound on the half-hour.

But the visitors were level within five minutes through Cole Deeming as they looked to build on their recent win over Yeovil Town.

Forest Green pushed for a winner late on, but Truro keeper Aidan Stone did well to save from the dangerous Temi Babalola as the visitors earned a point

Aldershot Town 4-1 Wealdstone

Three first-half goals helped Aldershot move out of the National League relegation zone as they beat Wealdstone 4-1 to make it four games unbeaten.

Within the first minute, James Henry put Aldershot ahead before a clever Josh Barrett finish made it 2-0 after just 10 minutes.

Wealdstone did not give up as Conor McAvoy pulled one back after 20 minutes by heading home a Sak Hassan free-kick.

However, the hosts restored their two-goal lead in the 45th minute courtesy of Charlie Warren.

Captain Ryan Hill sealed the win from the penalty spot in the 70th minute to cap off a strong performance from the Shots.

Carlisle United 1-0 Morecambe

Luke Armstrong’s first-half effort proved just enough for Carlisle United to edge past Morecambe in their clash at Brunton Park.

Armstrong broke a period of frustration for the home side when he converted from Regan Linney’s low cross deep into first-half injury time.

Mark Hughes’ men always looked more likely to add to their tally after the break as Linney shot straight at Gateshead keeper Jamal Blackman, then Stephen Wearne crashed a long-range effort against the bar.

But the hosts had keeper Gabriel Breeze to thank for preserving the points when he pulled off a superb save to deny Morecambe’s Emmerson Sutton in the 66th minute.

Southend United 1-0 Sutton United

Gus Scott-Morriss fired Southend United to a hard-fought victory over Sutton United to keep them firmly in the National League play-off race.

The Shrimpers took a 17th-minute lead when, after Harry Cardwell’s penalty – awarded for a foul on Charley Kendall by defender Jack Taylor – had been saved by Jack Sims, Scott-Morriss pounced on the rebound.

Junior Eccleston hit the post with a header and Lewis Simper rattled the crossbar with a well-struck drive as the visitors responded, but it was the hosts who finished the half the stronger, but only a goal to the good.

Sims saved from Harry Boyes and Slavi Spasov only just failed to reach Cardwell’s flick as Southend looked for a second goal, but they had done enough to claim the points.

Tamworth 0-2 FC Halifax Town

Will Smith and Will Harris ensured FC Halifax Town remain in the hunt for a National League play-off place after a 2-0 win at Tamworth.

The visitors needed just three minutes to get their noses in front when Josh Hmami’s corner was headed down and Smith fired home amid something of a scramble.

Town doubled their advantage with just 19 minutes gone when AJ Warburton got in down the right and crossed for Harris, who beat keeper Jas Singh at the second attempt.

The hosts came close to grabbing a lifeline when Ronan Maher only just cleared the crossbar from the edge of the box with 24 minutes remaining, and Halifax keeper Sam Johnson had to save from Ben Milnes after good work by Beck-Ray Enoru, but there was no way back.

Woking 0-1 Braintree Town

New signing Aramide Oteh’s first goal for lowly Braintree Town handed them a first National League victory in four attempts as they left Woking with a priceless 1-0 win.

The visitors were ahead within eight minutes when Woking keeper Will Jaaskelainen could only parry Lewis Walker’s attempt into the path of former The New Saints striker Oteh at the far post and he needed no second invitation to score.

Jaaskelainen saved well from Chay Cooper and was relieved to see a second attempt from the Braintree midfielder come back off the underside of the crossbar before denying Walker and Oteh as the home side came under intense pressure.

Keeper Mason Terry claimed Chinwike Okoli’s 77th-minute header from a Harry Beautyman cross, with the hosts making a better fist of it, but ultimately they could not rescue a point.

Scunthorpe United 2-0 Gateshead

Scunthorpe claimed their fourth win in row and heaped more woe on struggling Gateshead with a 2-0 win at the Attis Arena.

The visitors’ hopes of ending a dismal run of 10 straight defeats in all competitions were hit when Max Melbourne was sent off after 35 minutes for a deliberate handball.

Callum Roberts converted the subsequent penalty to give the Iron a slender 1-0 lead at the interval.

Gateshead goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks pulled off a superb save to deny Declan Howe in the second half, but Danny Whitehall made the game safe when he grabbed Scunthorpe’s second goal in stoppage time.

Yeovil Town 1-1 Eastleigh

Aaron Blair’s penalty ensured Eastleigh left Yeovil Town with a point courtesy of a 1-1 draw at Huish Park.

Luke McCormick fired the Glovers into a 28th-minute lead after Josh Sims had capitalised on an error and squared for him to slot in the bottom corner.

Eastleigh were level in first-half stoppage time, Blair converting from the spot after Morgan Williams had brought down Harvey Saunders.

McCormick passed up a series of opportunities to add to his tally before Eastleigh goalkeeper Nick Townsend produced a fine save to deny James Daly; however, neither side could find a winner as time ran down.

Boston United 1-2 Brackley Town

Brackley Town made it back-to-back wins after coming from behind to beat Boston United 2-1 away from home.

Oisin Gallagher gave the hosts the lead in the 44th minute.

But Brackley, who had ended a six-match losing run in the National League by beating Forest Green on Boxing Day, responded strongly after the break.

Zac Brown levelled in the 51st minute and the visitors got their winner with 16 minutes left when Ben Wodskou scored to move his side three points clear of the relegation zone.
