IN A game overshadowed by a serious head injury suffered by Yate’s Oli Jenkins, long-range efforts from Jake McCarthy and Blaise Riley-Snow saw Sholing past Yate Town.
Just 15 minutes in, the mood became sombre as Jenkins was knocked unconscious after colliding with the turf. It forced an ambulance and a break in play that wouldn’t see the game restart until 4.10pm.
Ten minutes into the restart, McCarthy, from distance, flicked and volleyed his side into the lead.
