Rocking Robins fly the flag for the north-east

BRANDON Slater’s excellent double saw North Shields remain the sole Northern League representatives in the FA Vase as they overcame Chadderton on an emotional afternoon at Andrew Street.
The Robins were good value for their place in February’s fifth round and had the better of the early stages in Greater Manchester.
The opening 35 minutes saw Blair Adams shoot narrowly wide from close range, Slater then sending a dipping volley just off-target, while Reece Wanless’ lofted effort struck the bar.
