FIKAYO ATEWOLU-GUN’S strike helped Carshalton move up to 16th.
The hosts wasted no time in taking the lead with the first attack of the game as Eddie Oppong got his first goal in Robins colours, firing past goalkeeper Lennon MacLorg.
Oppong could have had a second on 20 minutes when he was found at the back post but his header was well saved.
After that, Whitehawk started to find a route back into the game, particularly through their quality wingers Taufee Skandari and Destiny Ojo.
