■ MILTON Keynes Irish were barely troubled as they saw off almost-doomed Rayners Lane.
From the moment, in the tenth minute, when George Shrieves set up Ryan Smith to fire past Matt Burrows, the writing was on the wall for Lane.
Ten minutes later, Smith and Callum Hirst combined to set up Shrieves, who made it 2–0.
Rayners Lane did give themselves a glimmer of hope when a volley crept under Tom Ladyman’s dive to reduce the arrears.
