■ WITH Leverstock Green beating Hitchin, victorious Leighton Town went six points clear at the top.
Their victory in front of a near 500-strong crowd saw Town stick to the task to see off Stotfold in swamp-like conditions.
Jack Sayell opened the scoring in the 18th minute, latching onto a great Godlove Oppong pass before slotting past visiting GK Elliot Smith. Oppong then went from provider to scorer in the 24th minute, firing high into the goal after a fine Kyal Williams cross capped great build-up play with BJ Christie.
