Teams at the base of the National League System will travel shorter distances to away games if the FA’s latest restructure proposal receives enough support.
At a recent meeting, the governing body presented to league officials its plan to add seven new divisions at Step 6 – increasing the current number from 17 to 24. The aim would be for each to have 18 clubs.
“It won’t be a perfect fit, but it’s probably the best fit for now,” Chris Stirrup, North West Counties League (NWC-FL) chairman, told The NLP. “This isn’t an easy task.”
