LICHFIELD ended a five-match sequence without a victory and completed a league double over Rugby Borough in the bargain.
The hosts edged ahead after 14 minutes when Leighton McMenemy was brave to meet Jack Edwards’ cross with a diving header at the back post.
Rugby wasted a chance to level when Tyrell Waite sent his spot-kick against the crossbar after Luke Childs had bundled Kane Richards to the floor.
Jude Taylor was denied in the second half before Harvey Smith sealed victory for Ivor Green’s men after 83 minutes.
