REDCAR moved to within seven points of clinching the league title, but had to work hard to see off Ossett.
It needed a strike from substitute Mark Anderson in the second minute of stoppage time to finally shake off the plucky West Yorkshire side.
United had twice hit back from behind, but were eventually undone at the death.
