NEWTON Aycliffe recorded a resounding win against Ashington.

The first half was an even affair with chances for both.
Aycliffe took the lead when Colin Larkin fired a header passed Ben Metcalf after 22 minutes. The equaliser came in added time when Ashington’s Karl Ross found the net in a crowded Aycliffe box.
The second half saw Aycliffe shift a gear. Jake Orrell picked the pockets of the Ashington defence and chipped it home to make it 2-1 in the 55th minute

Minutes later Metcalf misjudged a corner and James Sloan tapped it in. Ashington pulled one back ...
