HITCHIN closed the gap on league-leaders Leighton Town to six points with a comfortable victory.
Town dominated possession and were good value for their win.
A well-delivered corner from Callum Nicolson was only partially cleared and Josh Coldicott-Stevens provided a crisp finish after 18 minutes.
Callum Kane was a real threat down the left wing and his dangerous crosses created real danger, but Hitchin failed to add to their lead before half-time.
