■THREE second-half goals ensured that Bootle kept alive their faint hopes of a top-five finish, and in the process dealt the home side a potentially mortal blow in their quest for the title.
Had the league’s top scorer Kyle Hawley not been denied an opening goal by an assistant’s flag and then both posts, the outcome might have been very different.
However, after the break the Bucks edged in front when Jack Lenehan netted
from close range, and from that moment on, they never looked in real danger of surrendering their lead.
