Die-hard Danny Burkey enjoyed a Non-League Day to remember after leading his beloved team for a crucial game from the manager’s dugout.
The 60-year-old retired school teacher was named as assistant manager for a day at NPL East side Ossett United as the Sheepicorns hosted Grimsby Borough in a crunch relegation six-pointer.
Diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer in June 2021, Burkey had planned to attend the match, together with friends and family, to raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK.
