BOOTLE came out on top against ten-man Clitheroe thanks to an impressive Jack McGowan double.
It was a quiet opening half hour with the only real chance falling to Ben Hodkinson, but he saw his header blocked on the line by Sekouba Sanogo.
Clitheroe were then reduced to ten men when Danny Wilkins was shown a straight red card after an altercation with the referee.
Things only got worse for the home side who conceded on the stroke of half-time when McGowan slotted past Zac Hadi at the near post.
