Steps 1 and 2

AFC Fylde and Kidderminster Harriers booked their returns to Non-League top flight.

They are joined by familiar Step 1 faces Barrow and Harrogate Town, who were both relegated from League Two.

The new kids on the block arrive from the National League South – Worthing as champions and Hornchurch as play-off winners.

As expected, relegated Brackley Town and Morecambe have been placed in the National League North – where they are joined by Step 3 promoted clubs Harborough Town, Hebburn Town, Hednesford Town and Spalding United.

Braintree Town and Truro City are back in the National League South alongside Billericay Town, Farnham Town, Folkestone Invicta and Walton & Hersham.

Step 3

There are three lateral movements at Step 3. Quorn have been switched from Southern League Premier Central into the Northern Premier League Premier Division with Rushall Olympic moving in the opposite direction.

Chichester City shift across to the Southern League Premier South from the Isthmian Premier.

Step 4

Three clubs benefit from reprieves at Step 3.

Littlehampton Town, in Isthmian South Central, are saved on a Points Per Game basis across the Step following Widnes’ withdrawal before the start of the 2025-26 season.

Southern League Division One South outfit Willand Rovers have been reprieved on a divisional basis following play-off finishers Portishead Town not meeting ground grading requirements.

Bourne Town are reprieved back into the NPL Division One Midlands to cover the vacancy left by Southern League Division One South Mousehole, who requested voluntary relegation.

Mousehole are treated as a relegated club and the committee have reprieved Bourne on PPG across the Step.

Steps 5 & 6

Phoenix club Widnes Town – born from the ashes of Widnes FC – have been placed at Step 6 in the North West Counties First Division South.

Flixton are in North West Counties First Division North and AFC St Austell join the South West Peninsula League.

A big recent talking point has been the North West Counties and Midland League areas.

The FA say they have worked to get better alignment between the Step 5 NWCL Premier and Midland League with the two NWCL Step 6 divisions.

There are 13 reprieves at Step 5 and 20 at Step 6.

A new regulation means The FA now have the ability to reprieve at Step 6 based on geography where divisions could or do go below 18 clubs.
