FORMER Sunderland defender Thomas Lavery has become Lee Cattermole’s first signing as Gateshead manager. The 20-year-old right-sider has progressed through the Black Cats’ academy system from the age of nine, right up to the under 21s.
He spent the first half of last season on loan at League of Ireland side Cliftonville before returning and signing for FC Halifax Town for the second half, making nine appearances overall.
