Kevin Horlock is back in the manager’s hotseat at Canvey Island.
The 53-year-old has taken over as manager of the Isthmian North division Gulls following the departure of Garry Kimble this week.
Horlock, the former Manchester City and Ipswich Town midfielder, has been without a job
since leaving Maldon & Tiptree in May, having led the Jammers to promotion into Step 3 for the first time.
He also steered them to the FA Cup first round where they eventually bowed out to League One side Port Vale in front of the live TV cameras.
Horlock took over for his second spell as Jammers boss in February 2025 after stepping down from his role at Needham Market.
Kimble, the former Witham Town and Great Wakering Rovers boss left Canvey Island by mutual consent on Wednesday after 11 months in charge.
The 60-year-old departed Park
Lane after Monday’s 3-2 defeat at Bowers & Pitsea left the newly-relegated Gulls in a steady 12th place in Isthmian North with three wins, a draw and two defeats from their opening six matches.
A club statement confirmed: “We would like to thank Garry for all his efforts during his tenure.”
